Liverpool’s list of six potential striker alternatives if Newcastle declines to sell Alexander Isak.
Liverpool has identified six potential striker targets in case Newcastle stands firm on keeping Alexander Isak. The Reds approached Newcastle regarding the Sweden international, offering a record transfer fee of £120 million. However, this proposal has not influenced Newcastle, who are resolute in their decision not to sell the striker, especially after he scored 23 goals in the Premier League last season. Despite claims that Liverpool’s interest might unsettle Isak, Newcastle’s position remains unchanged.
So far, no formal bid has been submitted from Liverpool, prompting Arne Slot’s team to explore other options. One possibility is Hugo Ekitike, who has remained on Liverpool’s radar. Newcastle had sought to sign the French forward from Eintracht Frankfurt, but their £70 million offer was rejected.
Liverpool has also inquired about other players, including Ollie Watkins and Yoane Wissa from Aston Villa and Brentford, respectively. Additionally, discussions with Napoli about Victor Osimhen occurred while negotiating over Darwin Nunez.
The club is also considering Rodrygo from Real Madrid, who has struggled for playing time under Xabi Alonso and may be available this summer if he wishes to leave. Interestingly, Marcus Rashford’s name surfaced in discussions as well. While the Manchester United forward is expected to be sold, a transfer to Liverpool seems unlikely, as there has been no significant progress on that front.
