𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥 are set to offer 𝐑𝐢𝐨 𝐍𝐠𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐡𝐚 his first professional contract, valid for one year, once the forward turns 17 this Friday.

However, the Reds face a potential legal battle with 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐚 over a sizeable compensation fee for the youngster, according to 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜. 

Under 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 rules, there is no fixed fee for the transfer of academy players, and disputes are often settled by a compensation committee.

Chelsea are reportedly determined to secure a substantial amount, and Ngumoha’s recent form for Liverpool will likely be used to argue for a higher fee when the case is heard in the coming days. Ngumoha’s winning goal against 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 on his Premier League debut will undoubtedly be used by Chelsea as evidence of his value to them - and justification for a higher fee.

Ngumoha previously joined Chelsea’s full-time education programme as a schoolboy and was offered a scholarship by the west London club, but he and his family rejected the offer, choosing a path that has now led him to Liverpool.
