“Poised for Departure – Fabrizio Romano Reveals Liverpool Star Set to Exit This Month”
“Set for Exit – Fabrizio Romano Reveals Liverpool Star ‘Expected to Depart’ This Month”
Fabrizio Romano has identified one Liverpool player who appears poised to depart Anfield during the final stretch of the summer transfer window.
Arne Slot named what was nearly a full-strength squad for Sunday’s Community Shield clash against Crystal Palace, with two key absences standing out: Ryan Gravenberch and Kostas Tsimikas.
Gravenberch missed the fixture due to personal reasons—his partner gave birth on Saturday night—while Tsimikas was notably omitted amid ongoing speculation about his future following the arrival of Milos Kerkez.
Romano: Tsimikas likely to exit Anfield in August
Taking to X on Monday morning, Romano revealed that the 29-year-old Greek defender is expected to leave Liverpool after being left out of the matchday squad at Wembley.
Romano reported: “Kostas Tsimikas is expected to leave Liverpool after being left out of the squad against Palace. He’s prepared to move on and begin a new chapter, with Nottingham Forest having shown interest earlier in the window.”
Tsimikas Would Depart Anfield With Warm Regards From Liverpool Supporters
Since arriving at Liverpool in 2020, Kostas Tsimikas has largely played a supporting role behind Andy Robertson, averaging just seven Premier League starts per season. With Milos Kerkez joining the club in June, it’s become increasingly clear that the Greek defender’s time at Anfield may be coming to an end.
His omission from the Community Shield squad further suggests that he’s no longer a central part of Arne Slot’s plans. While Liverpool face depth concerns in several areas, they find themselves particularly well-stocked at left-back—an unfortunate reality for Tsimikas.
Signed for under £12 million five years ago, the 29-year-old has been part of a successful era for the Reds, contributing to their Premier League triumph and famously scoring the winning penalty in the 2022 FA Cup final. Given his contributions and low initial cost, Liverpool could reasonably expect a return on their investment should he move on this summer.
With a transfer now appearing likely, Nottingham Forest may yet return with renewed interest—especially considering their owner, Evangelos Marinakis, also owns Olympiacos, the club Tsimikas left to join Liverpool.
If he does depart before the window closes, Tsimikas would do so with the best wishes of Liverpool fans and the promise of a warm welcome should he ever return to Anfield.
