Liverpool’s summer signings are admittedly yet to hit the ground running at Anfield as Arne Slot’s new-look side continues to gel. Hugo Ekitike has been the standout new arrival for the Reds during the opening two months of the season, but his fellow recruits are taking their time to adjust.

In truth, that is hardly a surprise. Liverpool brought in 10 new players as they went on a £450m spending spree. It was always going to take time for things to click after so much upheaval.

And it is not as though it was one-way traffic for the Reds on the transfer front during the summer, with the club also receiving over £200m when cashing in on a number of senior players.

The Colombian boasts six goals and four assists from his first 10 outings for Bayern Munich following his £65.5m transfer, and has already won his first trophy with the Bavarians after scoring the would-be winner on his debut against VfB Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup.

“If Luis Diaz scores more goals, we’ll be unbeatable,” Bayern President Herbert Hainer recently declared, according to BILD, as quoted by Sport Witness.

Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has already pointed to the departure of the Colombian as one of the reasons why the Reds are struggling this season.

Should the Bavarians go on to win trophies galore this season, with Diaz at the heart of it, and Liverpool's own mini-blip escalates into a full-blown crisis, it will stick the knife in back at Anfield.

Tyler Morton is earning rave reviews in France following his £15m move to Lyon, and scored his first goal for the club in their recent win over Lille.

Starting seven of his eight appearances in Ligue 1 and the Europa League, it has not taken the 22-year-old to establish himself as a key player, with his new side sitting fourth in the table. Meanwhile, he has already been quizzed about the possibility of even earning an England call-up in time for next summer’s World Cup.

Darwin Nunez started well for Al-Hilal with two goals and an assist from his first four outings after his £56.6m transfer, but has missed the Saudi Pro League outfit’s last three games with a knee injury.

Caoimhin Kelleher has enjoyed a respectable start for Brentford after leaving Liverpool to be number one elsewhere, with his highlight to date being saving a penalty for the Bees in their 3-1 victory over Manchester United earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Jarell Quansah has been an ever-present for Bayer Leverkusen, completing every minute of their nine matches to date and scoring on his debut against Hoffenheim. His form earned him an England recall, though it has already been a complex campaign for his new club - who sit fifth in the table - after head coach Erik ten Hag was sacked after just three games in charge.

But it has not been plain sailing for everyone. Trent Alexander-Arnold found himself in and out of the Real Madrid starting XI, facing intense scrutiny for his performances, before suffering a hamstring injury early on in the La Liga giants’ Champions League win over Marseille last month.

He has made 10 appearances for the Spanish outfit to date, with half of them coming in last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, but started only twice in La Liga before his untimely injury.

Alexander-Arnold has made more of an impact than Harvey Elliott at least, who joined Aston Villa on loan on transfer deadline day.

The 22-year-old has made five appearances for the Villans to date, scoring once. But he was withdrawn at half-time when handed his first - and so far only - Premier League start against former club Fulham last month.

Limited to a four-minute substitute appearance in Villa’s next outing against Feyenoord, he was then left unused on the bench for Sunday’s win over Burnley.

While currently a Liverpool loanee, Elliott is set to join Villa permanently with his temporary deal including a £35m purchase obligation. His limited game-time so far will not compromise that looming Anfield exit.

Part of the midfielder's motivation behind leaving the Reds was admittedly in pursuit of starting opportunities elsewhere.

It is only early days for Elliott at Villa Park, and while they have remained elusive in his opening month at the club, head coach Unai Emery has now revealed Villa’s plan for the 22-year-old.

"Time. Give him minutes, and through that he will feel confident in our structure,” the Spaniard said ahead of Villa’s clash with Burnley. “He needs to be demanding in our tactical idea - how we want to play - and then use his skills.

“I am happy with how he is working. I know, and he knows, that he has to continue with his adaptation. He is on the right path.

"He needs to adapt in everything, but I changed him (against Fulham) not because he was playing bad.
