This coincides with reports from some insiders that following the extension of Mohamed Salah's contract, Liverpool are close to closing a deal with another team leader, Virgil van Dijk.


The Liverpool captain is likely to sign a new long-term deal with the club in the coming days. All the details of the new contract have been agreed by all parties. Only formal signatures remain.
